Post-Operative Rehabilitation
After orthopaedic surgery, the operation and discharge instructions set the starting point. We review those instructions, your current movement and day-to-day needs, then adapt rehabilitation to your surgeon's advice and your response.
Is this right for you?
When this treatment can help
- Patients after orthopaedic surgery
- Individuals with stiffness and weakness after procedures
- People rebuilding confidence in movement post-surgery
- Patients aiming for safe return to work or sport
Your appointment
What your care includes
- Baseline post-operative assessment and function review
- Phase-based mobility and strength progression
- Pain and swelling management strategies
- Clear milestone tracking through each rehab phase
Aftercare between visits
We help you apply your surgical instructions to your exercises and daily activities, and agree what to review next. Keep your hospital follow-up and follow the restrictions from your surgical team; clinic rehabilitation does not replace that care.
How assessment and treatment progress
Early recovery support
Bring your discharge plan and any movement or weight-bearing restrictions. We check what you have already been advised and how daily tasks are going.
Strength and function rebuild
Rehabilitation progresses from controlled movement to functional and strength-based recovery.
Return-to-activity planning
As function changes, we review work, home and activity goals against your surgical instructions. Progress does not follow one universal timetable.
Treatment at a glance
- Early mobility and pain management support
- Progressive strength and functional retraining

What happens at my first physiotherapy appointment?
We discuss your symptoms and goals, assess your movement and agree a treatment plan. Care may include hands-on treatment, exercises and practical advice where appropriate. Bring relevant medical or surgical instructions so your care follows that advice.
Do I need a GP referral or insurance authorisation?
You can book self-pay physiotherapy without a GP referral. If you want to use private medical insurance, check your plan's referral and authorisation requirements before booking, and confirm your insurer covers the physiotherapist you choose. An excess or shortfall may apply.
Is this a clinic appointment or a home visit?
These service pages describe clinic physiotherapy. For treatment at your own address, choose Home visits instead; your visit address and suitable availability are checked separately. A clinic booking does not arrange a home visit.
