Pregnancy-Related Pain near Leytonstone

Discuss muscle and joint symptoms during pregnancy and adapt movement advice around your maternity care.

Care shaped around your goals

Back or hip pain during pregnancy can make sleep, work and everyday movement difficult. At our Newham clinic in Plaistow, we assess muscle and joint symptoms and agree practical care around your stage of pregnancy and maternity advice.

When an assessment may help

  • People with pregnancy-related back or hip discomfort affecting daily activity
  • People finding walking, sitting or sleeping positions uncomfortable
  • People looking for individual movement advice alongside their maternity care

Your physiotherapy appointment

  • Discussion of your symptoms, stage of pregnancy and relevant maternity advice
  • Assessment of movement and tasks that are difficult for you
  • An individual exercise and activity plan, with hands-on care where appropriate
  • Advice on when your midwife, GP or a specialist service should be involved
How your rehabilitation progresses
  1. Understand your symptoms

Tell us where you feel discomfort, when it appears and what your midwife or GP has advised. We consider whether clinic physiotherapy is suitable before agreeing treatment.

  2. Make everyday movement easier

We look at tasks such as getting out of bed, walking and sitting. Advice and exercises are selected around your symptoms, comfort and stage of pregnancy.

  3. Review as your needs change

We review what is helping and adjust your plan as symptoms or daily demands change. Your maternity team remains the contact for pregnancy concerns.

Your visit from Leytonstone

This journey link uses Leytonstone Underground station. If you normally use Leytonstone High Road or are driving from home, change the starting location and review the route to Prince Regent Lane.

For an appointment after surgery or during a painful flare-up, think about the return trip as well as arriving on time. Ask us about clinic access and bring your walking aid if you normally use one.

What to prepare before travelling
  • Tell us your stage of pregnancy and any advice from your maternity team.
  • Describe which tasks, such as turning in bed or walking, have become uncomfortable.
  • Ask about suitability first for pelvic girdle pain or specialist pelvic-health needs.

Directions use an example starting point, not a guaranteed travel time. Check current routes and access requirements before setting off.

Before you book

Is this the same as specialist pelvic-health physiotherapy?

No. This clinic service is for pregnancy-related muscle and joint pain and movement advice. For pelvic-health concerns or pelvic girdle pain, contact your midwife or GP and ask us about suitability before booking. Your maternity team remains the first contact for pregnancy concerns.

What sort of pregnancy care is this?

This service addresses muscle and joint pain and movement during pregnancy. For pelvic girdle pain or specialist pelvic health needs, speak to your midwife or GP and contact us about suitability before booking.

What should I bring?

Bring any relevant advice or restrictions from your maternity team and tell us how far along your pregnancy is. Comfortable clothing that allows movement is helpful.

When should I contact my maternity team first?

Contact your GP or midwife urgently for back pain in the second or third trimester, or with fever, vaginal bleeding, pain when passing urine or pain under your ribs. Call 999 or go to A&E for loss of feeling in your legs, bottom or genitals. If pelvic pain makes walking, stairs or turning in bed difficult, contact your midwife or GP.

Choose how you pay

Self-pay or health cash plan

A 30-minute physiotherapy appointment is £60. You do not need a GP referral to book self-pay. If claiming through a cash plan, check eligibility and receipt requirements with your provider first.

Private health insurance

Check that your plan covers your condition, the Newham clinic and your chosen physiotherapist. Have your authorisation details ready; cover and any excess depend on your policy.
