Medico-legal physiotherapy at home

Discuss physiotherapy rehabilitation at an agreed home or care-home address when that setting is appropriate for the case. We review clinical needs, the requested location, treating-clinician capacity, reporting and funding before accepting an instruction.

Rehabilitation in an appropriate setting

A home visit may be worth considering where travel is difficult or rehabilitation needs to address practical movement in the person's usual surroundings. The setting alone does not establish clinical suitability. Explain the broad injury or rehabilitation category, functional priorities, assistance needs and the type of clinician requested.

Musculoskeletal rehabilitation, complex cases, children and neurological needs are not interchangeable instructions. We consider the requested care against available clinician expertise, access and safe delivery before confirming whether Nexus can accept the case. A website service or area page is not acceptance of an individual referral.

  • Specify whether the request is for assessment and treatment, an additional treating-physio report or a separate expert instruction.
  • Identify any relevant care-team involvement, anticipated support or equipment needs through the agreed secure route.
  • Agree the treatment location and whether subsequent visits should be at home, in clinic or reviewed later.

Agree the instruction before booking

Start with your organisation, professional contact details and the broad service, location and timing required. We check the proposed work and availability, then explain the quote and formal referral process. Please keep identifiable case information out of the public enquiry.

The accepted instruction should identify the case handler, treatment authority or budget, responsible payer and who can approve additional work. Necessary patient information, records, consent and access arrangements are supplied through the agreed secure route. Patient agreement and disclosure permissions are considered separately from an organisation's decision to fund treatment.

Treating-physio reporting and expert evidence are different

We agree the questions, recipients and reporting requirements for the home rehabilitation instruction. Clinical reporting can describe assessment findings, the proposed plan, progress, functional difficulties or remaining needs within the treating clinician's scope. Confirm the reporting included in your particular quotation or existing agreement before work starts.

A rehabilitation report is not automatically a CPR Part 35 expert report. If you need physiotherapy expert evidence for proceedings, state this separately so suitability, the precise instruction, fees and dates can be reviewed. No ordinary home-visit booking commissions expert evidence or promises that a specific clinician can supply it.

Check the actual visit location

The place of treatment may differ from the patient's correspondence address. We need to consider the agreed visit location, access and assistance arrangements, clinical suitability and travel alongside clinician capacity. Coverage pages are planning guides, not confirmation that every address or case can be served.

Home-visit dates and reporting dates are agreed for the accepted instruction. We do not apply a generic clinic appointment time, public booking availability or a nationwide service promise to a case-managed home referral. If the person's needs or location change, discuss the implications before further work is arranged.

Private commercial terms

The quote or existing client agreement sets out the responsible payer, appointment arrangements, authorised work, reporting, invoice recipient, payment terms and any applicable cancellation or missed-appointment terms. Extra visits, bespoke reporting or changed delivery requirements need the relevant approval before they proceed.

About private professional terms

Agency and professional rates are not published on this page. Public self-pay prices do not replace an agreed agency or direct-instruction quotation. Read the public service terms for the general process, then review the priced agreement supplied for your instruction.

Questions before arranging care

Can I book an agency-funded home appointment through the public booking calendar?

Use the professional enquiry and formal instruction route for agency, solicitor or case-managed work. A self-pay or private-insurance appointment does not establish your organisation's treatment authority, reporting requirements or commercial agreement.

Do you accept every neurological or complex home referral?

No blanket acceptance is implied. We review the actual needs, required clinician, location, assistance and capacity before confirming whether the case can be accepted. If a different service is needed, that should be established before appointments are arranged.

Will the public terms page show our agency rates?

No. Public terms explain the service process without publishing the individually priced agency agreement. The quote or existing agreement confirms the actual charges and scope for your instruction.

Can you contact the patient as soon as I submit the public enquiry?

The public enquiry is a service discussion, not a formal patient referral. We first agree scope and explain the secure instruction route. Necessary referral information, authority and permissions are then reviewed before patient contact and booking are arranged.

Next step

Discuss the service you need

The initial public enquiry needs professional contact details and broad service requirements only. Do not include patient names, dates of birth, case identifiers, records or clinical documents. We confirm the appropriate secure referral route after the service discussion.
