Patient information

Medical information and website guidance

Our website explains physiotherapy, common conditions and appointment options. It is general information, not an assessment of your individual health. A diagnosis or treatment plan needs the relevant history, examination and professional judgement.

Use information alongside individual advice

Symptoms that sound similar can have different causes. A condition page, patient review or exercise example cannot establish what is causing your symptoms or whether a treatment is suitable for you. Your treating clinician's advice and any instructions from your surgical or medical team need to guide your care.

  • Do not delay seeking assessment because a website description seems reassuring or familiar.
  • After surgery or an injury, follow the restrictions given for your own recovery; general exercise information does not override them.
  • Ask a qualified healthcare professional about new, changing or concerning symptoms and uncertainty about an exercise or treatment.

The assistant and enquiry service

Ask Nexus is automated. It can provide general clinic and booking information, but it is not a physiotherapist or an emergency service. An online reply does not replace clinical assessment, establish a diagnosis or confirm that a particular treatment will help.

  • Use the normal patient or enquiry routes for an individual care or booking question.
  • Read the privacy policy before sharing personal information; avoid entering medical or identifying details into general assistant questions.

Urgent help and content concerns

For a life-threatening emergency, call 999. If you need urgent medical help and it is not an emergency, use NHS 111. Do not wait for a website message, email or routine appointment when urgent help is needed.

  • External guidance belongs to the organisation publishing it and can change independently of this website.
  • Contact Nexus if a page is unclear, a link is broken or information appears out of date. This explanation does not remove your legal rights or our responsibilities for the care we provide.
